apibrėžtis Valstybinė institucija, vadovavusi kūno kultūros ir sporto organizavimui Lietuvoje. Respublikinis, miestų bei rajonų Kūno kultūros ir sporto komitetas veikė 1940–1990 m. 1940–1941 m. buvo vadinamas Fizinės kultūros ir sporto komitetu prie Lietuvos SSR Liaudies Komisarų Tarybos, 1944–1959 ir 1968–1986 m. – Kūno kultūros ir sporto komitetu prie Lietuvos TSR Liaudies Komisarų Tarybos (nuo 1946 m. – prie Lietuvos SSR Ministrų Tarybos), 1986–1990 m. – Lietuvos SSR valstybiniu kūno kultūros ir sporto komitetu. 1990 m. birželio 1 d. reorganizuotas į Kūno kultūros ir sporto departamentą prie Lietuvos Respublikos Vyriausybės.
